Awakening Project is a network of young adults (and those who love them) who are bound together by a holy longing for the kingdom of God to transform emerging generations

Living history visits.

The Awakening Project conference includes visits to historic sites of awakening. On these pieces of holy ground, we learn about what has God before so that we can dream about what he longs to do again — in our day and on our campuses. Like the people of God have always done, we look back in remembrance so that we can look ahead in hope.

Intergenerational investment.

The Awakening Project is filled with spiritual mothers and fathers who stand ready to shower emerging generations with wisdom and love. This spiritual family flows with mentorship and encouragement, connecting the generations in unity and love.

One generation shall praise your name to the next.

Travailing prayer.

The Bible is utterly unfamiliar with casual prayer — or prayer of the mouth, but not the heart. In contrast, travailing prayer is burden-focused pressing. Travailing prayer is the guttural, desperate posture of prayer that is demonstrated throughout scripture by the Hebrews crying out in their slavery (Exodus 2:23). It’s Hannah’s desperate pleas for a child that caused witnesses to believe she was drunk, rather than pouring her soul out to the Lord (1 Sam 1:15). In Gethsemane, the travailing prayer of Jesus drew the first blood of the atonement (Luke 22:44). Trailing prayer is the type of prayer that always precedes awakening.

Vital Friendship.

Awakening Project seeks to encourage and strengthen vulnerable, empathic friendships as a way of resisting the shallow, fragile relationships that cause many emerging adults to live isolated, fractured lives. Shared meals, scripture discussion groups, and banded micro-communities are a few of the practices that encouraged connectedness.

Passionate worship.

Authentic worship is a key part of Awakening Project gatherings. In extended times in the presence of God, we make room for God to move and speak into our hearts and lives.

I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever. Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.

Inspired Teaching.

Awakening Project takes an approach to teaching that anchors in the truth of Scripture and lifts high the name of Jesus. The teaching team is bound by a conviction to resist the trend of Christian celebrity by decentralizing leadership, empowering emerging leaders, and creating opportunities for face-to-face connection between speakers and audiences.
